Does the
doctor see children ? |
|
| |
Yes, absolutely. Nearly 50% of our practice is
pediatric and we work with local pediatrician's to coordinate care for
children as young as 3 months. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Does the
doctor do minimally invasive sinus surgery ? |
|
| |
Yes. Dr. Fortson's surgical technique for sinus
surgery requires no exterior cuts, which means no scars. |
|

|
|
| |
Why isn't
the doctor in the office 5 days a week ? |
|
| |
Dr. Fortson is an active instructor for ENT
residents at Emory and General Surgery residents at Morehouse School
of Medicine. These affiliations allow him to keep advanced head & neck
surgical skills sharp and provide exposure to the newest advances in
patient care. This shortens his office workweek, but he remains
available and reach-able for urgent patient issues. The staff is in
office 5 days per week. |

My family
member will be visiting the doctor. May I come with them ? |
|
| |
Yes, we encourage patients to bring a family
member. Often a family member recalls details about the length of an
illness that a patient, nervous or not feeling well, would omit. We
like for our patients to feel comfortable and ask that guests be
limited to one person. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
How long
will I spend with the doctor ? |
|
| |
The doctor spends as much time with a patient as
that patient needs. In addition to Dr. Fortson, most patients will
interact with an assistant who will give a thorough interview and a
medical assistant. |

My insurance doesn't cover certain medications,
will the doctor prescribe a generic ? |
|
| |
Our office works closely with pharmacies to provide
substitutions for patient medications when possible. In cases where a
specific medication is not available in generic, we try to send
patients home with samples from the company. |

My doctor
says I need surgery or tests - how do I schedule it ? |
|
| |
A Surgery or Test Scheduler will discuss
the process with you in order to make sure your scheduling needs are
met. PLEASE ALLOW 7-10 working days for her to contact you. At that
time she will arrange to get you all the paperwork you need and may
ask that you see your Primary Care Physician in order to get a medical
clearance prior to your procedure. The office will apply for your
prior-authorizations and provide your insurer with as much information
as possible to gain approval for your procedure. |
